Dreamnovia Dreambook
The Dreamnovia Dreambook barely qualifies as a minibook at a mere seven inches. That’s quite a qualification! Its size and specs almost put it into the category of PDAs, but the Dreambook is for sure at the high end concerning both, size and functionality. You may think of it as a kind of baby laptop – a laptot!
A baby with power
You can run either Linux or Windows CE on the Xburst 400MHz, 32-bit processor of the Dreambook. This may at first glance not seem impressive to buyers who are used to an Intel Dual Core CPU running 3GHz or who know that other netbooks like the Dell Mini 9 uses Intel’s Atom 1.6GHz processer. Compared to that the Dreambook’s processor seems quit modest! However, for the truly habile unit the Dreambook is it delivers all the power you will need.
The same holds true if you look at the RAM of 128MB or the storage which takes the form of a 2GB NAND flash. If you are worried about being constrained by that you can always connect external storage such as an SD card of up to 32GB or an external hard drive of up to 160GB.
Other standard features of the Dreambook
The Dreambook features and almost standard keyboard and you can easily attach a mouse to it. You have 3 USB ports that allow for more flexibility. There is also a 10/100MB Ethernet port included at a standard feature with which you can get wired Internet access if you want to. However, most users will rather take advantage of the Wi-Fi support.
As you would expect of a slightly too big PDA (or an undersized minibook as they say) the screen is rather small, but it is bright and the clarity is also fine at a resolution of 800×480. The7” screen really suffices for working on documents, emails, surfing the web and more. Just think about an IPhone or Blackberry which have even smaller screens – still you can get everything you need done on them.
Software on the Dreambook
Working on any document is no problem thanks to all the software that the Dreambook runs. You can use Excel CE, Word CE or any of the equivalents for Linux depending on your preferences. It can run several browsers which leaves another choice to you. Also web-based email applications are no problem for this smart netbook.
Many people use the Dreamnovia Dreambook also as an alternative to a normal E-Book reader and it works fine in that area, too. It for sure is not a Kindle, but it’s still easy to download e-Books via the wireless internet connection and read them. The only disadvantage is that its screen is not as clear as the one of Amazon’s product, but no one can compete with that, not even the IPhone.
If you watch YouTube videos a lot this device might not be the most suitable for you as it is a little underpowered for that. Downloading and sharing photos is no problem tough. In this respect you should again rather compare it to the regular mobile phone or PDA. Compared to them the Dreambook is really much better as it is a fully functioning personal computer on the lower end of the power and capacity scale.
The verdict for Dreamnovia Dreambook
No matter which operating system you prefer the Dreamnovia Dreambook will always suite your style. It is not only easy to use and inexpensive, but also a superb, portable platform on which you can perform all larger tasks that are usually hard to perform on a PDA or cell phone. At a weight of less than 2lbs this little baby netbook is certainly much easier to handle than any standard laptop. If you got interested in this special netbook, you could start shopping for the Dreamnovia Dreambook!

these computers (at least the ones with linux) are garbage - they have an experimental browser that is not supposed to be released to the public because it has so many bugs. dreamnovia has no customer support - do not return phone calls, faxes, or emails - and arent willing to work with you on returns. i bought 3 of these for my children for christmas…and the flash player doesnt even work on any of them. all of my childrens websites require flash. dont buy these. you will be sorry.
