HP Mini 5101

It seems that the guys at HP were brainstorming themselves before they could come out with something for me to review and voila, here is the HP Mini 5101. Well, maybe that was a bit of unwanted exaggeration but I heard someone calling it as a serious netbook and therefore decided to have a look at it. No doubt, it is way ahead of the Mini 1000-family and seems to be perfect for those who are mobile users and have a deep affection for sophistication!

Well, I guess that the sleek and beautiful chassis molded out of aluminum and magnesium makes it a bit serious netbook than its predecessors! The specifications are not very different from the general players in the netbooks category but there are certainly some additions, which we shall look into in the latter half of the review.

Build and keyboard

When it comes to the overall build of the HP Mini 5101, it certainly deserves some respect. Taking care of the urge of sophistication, this new child of HP makes its way to the head of the laptops and the netbooks with its stylish chassis and some attractive specifications. In short, it is sleek yet powerful to grab your attention. Coming down to the keyboard and the trackpad, HP has finally achieved the breakthrough to ensure that the netbook matches the laptops in terms of the keyboard and trackpad. The interesting feature that catches your attention immediately is the mouse-buttons pair, which is carefully engineered to go down just below the trackpad as you find it in your oldie-goldie laptop. The nearly square keys give you the sheer pleasure of typing and you can really achieve your highest speed with minimal margin for typos!

Screen and Hard Drive

Let us enjoy a rocky experience! The HP Mini 5101 has an option for two different categories of display and all you have to do is to choose the one that suits your style. Offering a choice between a LED-backlit WSVGA display or a LED-backlit HD display, the netbook manages to incorporate the class and sheer elegance that undoubtedly provokes the feeling of sophistication. Adding to the lovely experience of the display is the choice of an 80 GB or 128 GB SSD drive to ensure that the battery usage is minimal.

The timeline and the captured moments

The subheading may sound a bit filmy but the claimed truth cannot be better expressed. The HP Mini 5101 claims to travel 8 hours across the timeline! This amazing battery life is however, not a new wonder in the netbook category. But, the combination of the state of the art technology makes it one of the most important attractions of this HP product. Coming to the webcam, HP has surely overshadowed others. The amazing 2.0 MP camera is certainly a new venture in this miniature lappe category!

Conclusion

The HP Mini 5101 is one of the best netbooks in the market and surely it is going to overshadow all its competitors as soon as it hits the market. One particular thing that makes it very competitive is the moderately fixed price tag, which puts this state of the art device within the comfortable range of the netbooks!
