LG X120

7 May 2009 One Comment

I have been thinking about this company recently! Many companies have entered into the nettop market and some have actually done good to grab some attention with their innovative and stylish design of the mini laptops! Is there a reason for LG not to enter the race of netbooks? No, there is no such reason and therefore what we see today is the new LG X120 in the netbook category.

Being the successor of X110, the new LG X120 is equipped with some modern wireless technology which allows the user to connect to the net on the go. Let us see what it has to offer.

The next generation technology

There is actually some modern and highly sophisticated technology bundled in the LG X120 that impressed me and will in fact impress anyone who loves advanced technology. As a difference from the general netbook category, this new machine features a 3G HSPA wireless broadband that allows the users to connect to the internet instantly whenever they are on the go.

Yet another brilliant piece of technology that can be found in this mini notebook or netbook (whatever you prefer to call it) is the “Smart on” technology of LG which is powered by Splashtop. “Smart on” is an instant-on feature of LG that allows the machine to boot super quickly. I was shocked to see the boot time! A mere 5 seconds interface allowed the machine to boot instantly and the user can access a lightweight Linux desktop. You can actually browse the web and use your Skype account.

Not only this, the “Smart on” feature of LG allowed me to check my Facebook account as well and also allowed me to do other tasks! Now, what amazed me the most is that I was able to do all these things without waiting for XP to load and boot up to the desktop! I guess that with the LG X120 in hand, I can call myself “Supersonic”! Just kidding!

Guess what? The list is yet not complete! The LG X120 has more to offer! The Smart-link technology is there to make you feel on the top of this world. This new USB2.0 technology actually allowed me to transfer large and small files to my netbook from my desktop! I simply had to attach the netbook to my desktop using a USB cable. I no longer have to cry because of the absence of a CD or DVD drive!

So, if you are regretting purchasing a netbook which does not have a CD/DVD drive, I will suggest you to switch over to LG X120. It will no doubt shell out some pennies from your pocket but you will not regret.

Colors and Camera

Though the nettop is available in two colors, the Vanilla colored netbook has a little more weight, which is around 2.8 lbs. However, the differences between the two are not clearly specified. The other one is white in color with a soft texture and has a lime or pink detailing.

The integrated webcam is good enough for video conferencing and video chatting. The webcam uses the LG-You cam software for the purpose. The machine also has SRS WOW HD and TRU SURROUND XT for stereo effect when you play a movie or any audio track. The sound quality is quite impressive.

Conclusion

The state-of-the-art LG X120 is all set to impress the next generation with its most advanced technology stuffed in the machine. Not enough information is available as of now but we can surely wait for some time to know more.
