Samsung NC20
The craze of the ultra portable netbooks is increasing and that is evident with increasing number of companies entering the market quite frequently and the amazing number of variations in each one’s product line! Well, as many of them boast about their quality and performance, some are silent and still make a solid impression with their quality and performance. One such candidate is the Samsung.
In spite of a late entry in the nettops market, the Samsung NC10 played well and has some good reviews sticking on its back. It delivered and specially, it met all my anticipations and expectations. On a personal footage, I will always give Samsung a 10 out of 10 rating and recommend it to all the nettop users. What I was really worried about was the new comer from the house of Samsung- the all new Samsung NC20.
Finally when it was out in the market, I simply grabbed it to find out some interesting facts. Here they are:
A real stunner
Not really exaggerating the matter (since I love Samsung) but truly, if you are looking for something that can give you a bit of satisfaction with a nettop usage, the Samsung NC20 gives you that. An amazing 6 hours of battery life stuffed in the machine is something of a superhero breed! With some exceptionally different characteristics the Samsung NC20 is all set to be a real superhero.
Specifications
This newcomer lies somewhere between classic 10 inch netbook and the ultra notebooks. One thing that is disappointing is the price. It is priced at a staggering figure of $670. Moreover, the screen is in the ultraportable category. Then, the question is, “why not pay a little more and get a better performance in the ultraportable category?”
Despite these two shortcomings, I have enough reasons to see this as a better choice among other nettops. The Samsung NC20 is perfect for those businessmen who need a laptop computer (not very high end but still having a normal screen resolution) and need to stay online always and for children below 12 years of age who will like to have this as their first computer.
Well, the greatest thing that I like is that system can be easily upgraded with RAM and hard disk. It is not meant for multitasking and it basically works well with online activities and simple text computing. It is also very handy for watching movies. The keyboard is almost of the normal size (97% of the original notebooks).
Appearance
As far as the looks are concerned, the Samsung NC20 does not differ much from the NC10. It is molded with a pleasant to touch plastic and the interior surfaces are smooth. However, the outer side of the lid is a bit rough. The white color leaves absolutely no chances of foot prints! Camera, LEDs and the SD reader at the end of the front panel are not changed at all. However, the socket position at the sidebar has changed. The power button is now made of metal and is located on the lid. However, when compared to the previous version, i.e. NC10, the looks are not very impressive.
Keyboard
It is one of my favourite things in the NC20. Wide and nicely placed keyboard gives a good typing experience. It passes all the standard typing tests and has a nice feel. Only thing that has changed is the windows button. It has moved to the right of the space bar instead of being on left!
Conclusion
In terms of overall performance, the NC20 does a good job. It also allows a bit of multitasking and plays well when it comes to the battery life. Compared to the performance of the standard nettops, the Samsung NC20 is a much better deal if you are looking for one. You will enjoy using it!

Owners of the NC20 have been very impressed with it, the extra space comes in very useful for sure. I think the biggest competitors to this model are from Samsung! Check out the N120 for example.
